A lithium-ion battery (LiBat) is an energy storage device with high energy density, high charging and discharging efficiency, a long service life and various safety features. They are widely used in portable electrical appliances, energy storage systems for PV systems, in medicine, in e-bikes and electric vehicles.

LiBat are indispensable at a time when technological advances in the field of mobile electronics support and facilitate our lives on an almost daily basis. However, the lifespan of such batteries is also finite, which means that a second life and disposal are imminent. In view of the increasing volume of batteries produced safety is of the utmost importance. But how can the e.punkt deliver safety in this complex and sensitive area?

The e.punkt is an association of experienced lithium battery transporters and recyclers. We only use UN-certified safe containers for transport. All transports are organised and carried out by ADR-trained personnel. The batteries are stored exclusively in warehouses designed for LiBat with specialised fire detection and extinguishing technology. Sensor supported processes are used for dismantling and discharging. All employees undergo practical and theoretical training on the batteries and are instructed by qualified electricians, without exception. 

All partner companies are specialist disposal companies and have operating licences according to German law.
